Societat Civil Catalana ("Catalan Civil Society", SCC by its Catalan acronym), is an association that promotes the social cohesion in Catalonia and of Catalonia whithin Spain. As such, its main objectives are to promulgate the Catalan culture as part of the common and diverse Spanish culture whilst challenging the Catalan independence movement as a critical division factor within the Catalan society.

Its current president is Mr. Mariano Gomà, architect, writer and academic.

SCC has 4 subdivisions which focus on different social areas: Economy, Education, Youth and Health.

Societat Civil Catalana was born on April 2014 as an entity "promoting a Catalonia proud of its culture and of it embedded within Spain History and traditions".[1]

On November 19th 2014 the association was awarded the European Citizen Prize by the European Parliament[2]. This prize recognizes the achievement on: "Activities or actions by citizens, groups, associations or organisations having displayed an outstanding commitment to promoting better mutual understanding and closer integration between citizens of the Member States; or to facilitating cross-border or transnational cooperation within the European Union"[1]

On October 2016 the association renewed its representatives, Mariano Gomà replacing former president Rafael Arenas and Álex Ramos becoming vice-president.[3]

  • October 29th 2017, demonstration in Barcelona´s Passeig de Gracia for Spanish unity under slogan "We are all Catalonia".[4][5]
  • October 12th 2017, Spain´s National Day. Demonstration in Barcelona´s Plaza Catalunya.[6]
  • October 8th 2017, demonstration in favour of Spain´s Constitution and Spanish unity under slogan "Back to Common Sense"[7][8]
  • April 2016, documentary "Dissidents", denouncing the moral harassment against those who disagree with the nationalist view of Catalonia.[9][10]
