Soh Ohba (大場綜,おおばそう โซ โอบะ, born 30 June 1980) is a Japanese professional boxer. Soh is also a Japanese conservative politician and private investor.Soh is a member of Japan Library Association. Soh's uncle is Masao Ohba.Soh's father and Masao's junior brother, Isaburo Ohba, served as assistant secretary general of New Frontier Party (Japan)(NFP) Kanagawa prefecture Branch in the 1990s.Now Soh is the Representative of the political group ”Shinshin kanagawa 21“.Shinshin Kanagawa 21 has inherited the NFP logo.
Soh held the Super featherweight title in Thailand from 2018 to 2022 and defended it twice during that timeframe. As of 2023, he was ranked #4 of Super featherweight class in World Boxing Union (WBU).[2] He was selected as Japan's World Boxing Foundation (WBF) representative in 2023.[3]
Soh was then an NFP party Friend.On December 10, 1994, when Soh was 14 years old, he participated in the NFP founding convention at Pacifico Yokohama in Nishi-ward Yokohama-city, and was a supporting member of the Japan Renewal Party until the day before.
Six months after his 17th birthday, Soh participated in the Reform-Club opening ceremony at the NFP party. Soh was around 20 years old and was a volunteer staff Reform Club and New Conservative Party (Japan).
Soh was recommended by Toshiro Mayuzumi just before he passed away, and one month before his 17th birthday, he attended the inaugural meeting of Nippon Kaigi.
Boxing career[edit]
Soh started practicing at a boxing gym near Yasukuni Shrine and Hosei University in Chiyoda, Tokyo, a few months before graduating from junior high school. Soh is the nephew of Masao Ohba.[4] He was trained by Isamu Kuwata.[5]
Soh compiled a record of 10-10 (4KOs) in amateur matches before deciding to end his status as an amateur contender of the Japan Amateur Boxing Federation (JABF) on September 25, 2016.[6]
Soh announced he would turn professional on September 25, 2016, less than three months after his 36th birthday. Just 60 days later, on November 24, he debuted with a 2 RTKO win in Rangsit, Thailand.[7]
Thailand's national hero Chartchai Chionoi is Soh's uncle's nemesis. Soh was supported by Chartchai in his professional debut at the age of 36.
He marked 6 KO victories, 1 loss and 5 draws (including NC in Japan) of 12 fights.
PAT International Super featherweight champion[edit]
Soh went pro and fought for the Professional Boxing Association of Thailand (PAT) international champion after 5 professional fights. He defeated Nikhom Hongthong by knockout on July 1, 2018, becoming an undefeated PAT international champion in Thailand. After that, he held the title, making two defenses, and later he was ranked #12 in the Asian Boxing Council (WBC Asia) and #8 in the Asian Boxing Federation (ABF) in 2019.[6][unreliable source?]
As of 2022, he was ranked #4 of Super featherweight class in the World Boxing Union (WBU).[2]
