Soka Institute Amazon Environmental Research Center
Soka Institute Amazon Environmental Research Center (formerly The Amazon Ecological Conservation Center) was founded in 1993 by Soka Gakkai International President Daisaku Ikeda in Manaus, Brazil.[1] The center is engaged in reforestation, the creation of a regional seed bank, and experiments in sustainable agroforestry. [2] In June 1994, the Soka Institute Amazon Environment Research Center had successfully planted over 20,000 seedlings of thirty-four varieties.[3]
