Sol Rashidi is a Persian-American thought leader in the Data and A.I. space helping various institutions set up practices, apply deep machine learnings, and achieve the value from modern day advancements in the Data, Analytics, Robotics and Machine Learning. Having startups of her own (FriendNtheCity.com), serving as a CIO to NYC based startups, and as a Partner in 'Big 4' consulting firms, Sol is currently serving as the Chief Data & Cognitive Officer Royal Caribbean Cruises.
Early life
Sol was born to Persian Immigrant parents (Robabeh Rashidi & Ahmad Rashidi) who established their roots in California where she was born and raised. Sol graduated from UC Berkeley with a BS degree and from Pepperdine University with her MBA. She traveled the world on many assignments but eventually settled in New York City to help IBM launch Watson to market, and most recently in Miami for her current position.
Career
Sol Rashidi is currently the Chief Data and Cognitive Officer at Royal Caribbean Cruises. Sol is responsible for defining the newly created function and framing capabilities required to enable the corporation’s digital transformation. In addition to leveraging the advancements in Big Data, Advanced Analytics, Robotics, Machine Learning space, and the Data Science domains she is also helping pivot a culture change.
Prior to Royal Caribbean, Sol was with Ernst & Young, IBM, Davita, Lockheed Martin, Morgan Stanley, and more.
