Something Out West is an American country-rock duo from Nashville, Tennessee, consisting of singer/songwriter Drew Arthur and actor/singer/songwriter Chet Hanks. They blend country, rock, and pop influences with an outlaw sensibility and gained national attention following their debut release in 2025.
History
Something Out West was formed in 2024, after Arthur and Hanks collaborated on songwriting and studio recordings. Inspired by themes of personal transformation, fame, and Americana, their music reflects experiences in both Hollywood and Nashville.
Career
Their debut EP, Leaving Hollywood, was released on June 20, 2025. That same week, the duo appeared on the Today Show (interview + performance) and performed “You Better Run” on The Kelly Clarkson Show.
Following these appearances, Something Out West received coverage in publications such as Rolling Stone, Billboard, People, Entertainment Tonight, CNN, Vogue, and The Hollywood Reporter. Their music video for the single “You Better Run” featured a cameo by Tom Hanks and drew widespread media attention.
