Song Min-gi (Hangul: 송민기; born August 9, 1999),[1] known mononymously as Mingi (Hangul: 민기), is a South Korean rapper and songwriter. He is best known as a member of the boy group Ateez.
Early life
Song was born on August 9, 1999, in Incheon, South Korea.[1]
Career
2017–2018: Pre-debut, Mix Nine, debut with Ateez
Song was previously a trainee at Maroo Entertainment.[2]
In 2017, Song participated in the survival reality show Mix Nine, representing KQ Entertainment alongside future groupmates Hongjoong, Jongho, and Wooyoung. He ranked A during the showcase and placed 63rd before subsequently being eliminated after the seventh episode.[3][4][5]
On October 24, 2018, Song debuted as a member of Ateez with the EP Treasure EP.1: All to Zero.[6][7]
2019–present: Activities with Ateez
On November 15, 2020, it was announced that Song would temporarily suspend group activities in order to receive treatment for and recover from symptoms of psychological anxiety.[8] On July 19, 2021, it was announced that Song would resume promotional activities with Ateez.[9]
