Sophie Anne Luborsky (born July 29, 2004), known professionally as Sophie Powers, is a Canadian singer and songwriter. She is known for her genre-blending musical style, combining elements of pop-punk and hyperpop music.
Career
Powers was born in Toronto and began writing her own songs at an early age. She began her musical career at age 16 with the release of the rock ballad "Lonely Army".[1][2]
In 2022, Powers released her debut EP, Red In Revenge, which includes collaborations with artists such as Kellin Quinn and Noahfinnce.[3][4]
Her second EP, Glitch: Lvl 1, followed in 2024, featuring the track "Nosebleed".[5] The song gained traction through viral success on TikTok, contributing to her growing popularity.[6] It also contained collaborations with rapper Baby Tate and fellow pop singer Ashley Sienna.[7]
In 2025, she released the single "Move with Me," showcasing faster tempos and more intricate, technical production elements.[8][9] After releasing another single, "Head Empty No Thoughts"[10], she was featured on the remix to South Korean girl group Illit’s single "Jellyous", which instantly boosted her popularity.[11] "Muddy" was released on September 26.[12]
Also in 2025, Powers participated in the 23rd season of American Idol.[13][14][15] Her audition was a marketing stunt in which she performed a joke song called "STFU" in an attempt to drive traffic to her released music.[16]
Musical style
Powers' music draws from various genres, including teen pop, punk, pop, and hip hop. Her sound is characterized by energetic production that fuses punk rock elements with modern hip-hop beats. Her lyrics often explore themes such as self-discovery, social dynamics, and the challenges of adolescence.[17][18][19]
