Sopormetal International Group was founded on February 2, 1985. It began as a Portuguese company supplying brazing materials, silver and copper brazing solders.[1]
Production
SOPORMETAL is a producer of brazing materials such as silver solders, copper/phosphorus, soft solders and fluxes. Cadmium-free silver solder, special alloys and tri-metal alloys for the entire industry, as well as several special alloys in the form of rod, strips, rings and various preforms. Coated silver solders with different ratios having regard to the technology used for brazing and fusion technical parameters. Copper phosphorus alloys with and without silver for all sectors, as well with different types of profiles like rods, plates, strips, wires. Welding Fluxes in powder, gel and liquid in accordance with all types of alloys or soldering technology.[2]
Internationalization
Sopormetal globalization strategy begins with the acquisition of a Spanish company, resulting in the establishment of Sopormetal España in Madrid, now considered a significant “player”[citation needed] of the industrial sector in Spanish market, covering it as a whole and supplying large companies such as Airbus, Basque Mondragon Corporation and Siemens.
In this context, the company begins its expansion currently supplying almost the entire European continent and Maghreb, being in development the establishment of a “trade office” in Dubai to serve the Middle East market, aiming to consolidate a strategic world-wide position.
From this internationalization strategy emerged the project of a new production unit – Sopormetal Brazil – foreseeing its starting soon [when?]. This investment is an important step towards the consolidation on the South American market, and a bet on the supplying of raw materials, vital for the entire group.[3]
The company has also been continuously exhibiting in fairs like Chillventa,[4] BiemH,[5] BIG5,[6] Schweissen & Schneiden.[7]
