Shota Haku (Japanese: 白翔太 Hepburn: Haku Shota, born February 1, 2005), also known professionally as Soul, is a Japanese singer-songwriter and dancer based in South Korea. He is a best known as a member of the South Korean boy group P1Harmony.[1]
Life and career
2005–2019: Early life
Shota Haku was born on February 1, 2005, in Saitama, Saitama Prefecture, Japan to a Korean father and a Japanese mother. He is the eldest of two children, having a younger sister.[2] He began attending a local dance school, together with his younger sister at a young age. In 2018, he moved to South Korea to pursue a career as a K-pop idol.[3] In 2019, he and and other trainees traveled in Mongolia.[4]
2020–present: Debut with P1Harmony
On September 4, 2020, Soul was revealed as the fifth member of P1Harmony.[5] On October 8, he and other members of P1Harmony starred in the film P1H: The Beginning of a New World.[6] The group debuted on October 28, 2020 with the extended play (EP) Disharmony: Stand Out; Soul was credited as a songwriter on the tracks "Intro; Breakthrough (틀)" and "That's It".[7] On December 29, 2020, the group released the single "Breakthrough (틀) (Full Version)", where he was credited as a songwriter and composer with other member of the group.[8]
In 2023, the group released the single "Super Chic" with English pop band New Hope Club, where he and other members of P1Harmony where credited as songwriters and composers for the song.[9]
