Soul metal is the fusion of varying soul styles with varying metal styles. The genre is somewhat close to alternative metal, funk metal, rap metal, reggae rock, and nu metal, with some artists in those genres making use of soul music influences. Notable soul metal artists include 24-7 Spyz, The Eric Burdon Band, Eric Burdon & The New Animals, Bad Brains, and Living Colour.[1][2][3][4]
In addition, the final album by Audioslave, Revelations, also combines soul and metal influences, being described as Earth Wind and Fire meets Led Zeppelin by Tom Morello.[5]
