Beginning of Space Rockets

In 1944, the German V2 rocket went to space for the first time.[1] Later, V2 started launching from White Sands Missile Range in Utah. Also, during this time, the Army Ballistic Missile Agency (ABMA) started which created most of the early American rockets.

The Space Race

The Space Race was a contest between the United States and the Soviet Union. It included getting the first artificial satellite into space, the first person into space, and the first person to the moon.

In the late 20th century, commercial spaceflight started. Companies such as Boeing Defense and Space, Lockheed Martin Space, SpaceX, and Blue Origin started flying rockets and spacecraft. SpaceX returned American spaceflight on May 30, 2020 with the Demo-2 mission.
