Spec 3
Spec3 is a class of racing cars used in National Auto Sport Association (NASA) road racing events.[1] The series only allows cars prepared to resemble 1992-1995 BMW 325i/s models.[2] The class was originally intended to succeed the Spec E30 racing class. [3]
Eligible Cars[edit]
The series consists of U.S.-spec BMW e36 325i coupes and sedans. All cars in the series use the BMW M50b25tu engine[4].
As a "specified" class, the rules allow for a limited number of modifications, predominantly involving required suspension parts.
Required components include:
- M50B25TU engine
- Getrag 260 5-speed transmission
- 3.15 rear differential final drive ratio[5]
- Stock/unmodified ECU with Bimmerworld ECU Chip[6]
- Swift Race spring set[7]
- Koni Sport shocks
- Spec series tire (which is currently the Toyo RR or RA1 in 225/50/15 or 235/40/17 size[4]
- minimum weight with driver at the end of the race is 2825 pounds
- Spec front camber plates[8]
- Spec Hawk DTC-60 Brake Pad[9]
Allowed modifications include rebuilding of the original BMW motor, but it must follow factory specifications.
