Maulana Asad Mahmud
Maulana Asad Mahmud is the eldest son of the Amir of JUI Hazrat Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman and grandson of former CM KPK, the then NWFP, Hazrat Maulana Mufti Mahmud, to whom he also shares his name. He was unanimously named by the Party Shura [1] to contest in by-elections after the Chief of JUI Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman vacated the NA-25 seat which he had won during the general elections of 2013, along with NA-24 D.I.Khan and NA-27 Lakki Marwat. After obtaining 68,000 votes, he could not make it to the National Assembly this time because his contender enjoyed the full support of the PTI government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.[2][3][4][5][6]
