SpeedTrader is a division of Mint Global Markets, Inc,[1] a financial services firm headquartered in Carmel, NY. The firm provides online stock and options trading services through mobile, web and software trading applications.[2] It is best known for providing fast trade executions and direct access trading for active and professional traders through the SpeedTrader Pro trading platform.[3] Mint Global Markets, Inc. is a FINRA regulated broker-dealer, registered with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, and is a member of the Securities Investor Protection Corporation.

SpeedTrader[4] was founded in June 1999 at the infancy of the online trading industry. The concept was simple: to level the playing field and empower active self-directed stock traders by providing state-of-the-art trading software with fast order entry and execution. This was accomplished by providing a downloadable software-based platform, SpeedTrader Pro powered by DAS, and direct access trading routes.

SpeedTrader Pro powered by DAS, an Electronic trading platform – provides real-time stock and options level 2 quotes, charts, watchlists, stock scanners and hot-keys.

Direct access trading routes and Electronic Communication Networks (ECNs) – NYSE Arca, NASDAQ, EDGX and BATS Global Markets. Historical routes previously offered include SOES (Small-order execution system), SelectNet, Instinet and Island ECN. Many of these order routes were created from inspiration of Smart Order Routing Direct Order Turnaround - DOT and Super DOT from the 80's.

With the technological advances of computers and the internet, for the first time in the 90’s, individual traders were able to see real-time stock and options quotes and enter trades that would interact directly with stock exchanges. A notable achievement of SpeedTrader is that it is one of the oldest independent direct access trading firms to survive from the 90’s. Most similar firms from the era have either ceased operations, were bought by larger brokerages, or were taken over by venture capital firms. SpeedTrader remains an independent brokerage firm.

To this day, SpeedTrader remains true to its founding legacy by empowering active self-directed stock traders by providing state-of-the-art trading software with fast order entry and execution[5].

SpeedTrader[6] differentiates itself from traditional large online trading brokers by providing services that many active traders and day traders seek; trading is available during regular market hours and for extended-hours trading of 4am ET to 8pm ET. 25+ order routing options are available. Multiple clearing firm options - Apex Pro (ETC), Axos Financial Clearing and Apex Clearing. Multiple stock locate venues are provided so short sellers can locate stocks for selling short. The firm trades NYSE and Nasdaq listed stocks and options as well as OTCBB and Pink sheet stocks.
