Spider-Man: Lotus is an upcoming superhero non-profit fan film based on the Marvel Comics character Spider-Man, inspired by comic stories "The Kid Who Collects Spider-Man", and Spider-Man: Blue. Written and directed by Gavin J. Konop, it stars Warden Wayne as Peter Parker / Spider-Man, alongside Sean Thomas Reid, Moriah Brooklyn, Tuyen Powell, and Maxwell Fox-Andrews. It is scheduled to be released in 2022.
Synopsis[edit]
Following the tragic death of his former girlfriend – seemingly caused by his own attempt to save her – Peter Parker (Warden Wayne) lingers in his guilt of the past, questioning whether the curse of his alter ego should be buried for good. When he's met by the news that a terminally ill child has requested to meet Spider-Man, Peter contemplates the decision to comfort him in his final days.[1]

Development[edit]
The film had been in development by Gavin J. Konop and Warden Wayne for multiple years. It was officially announced on January 16, 2021, on YouTube, Instagram, and Twitter.[2] A funding campaign began on Indiegogo with a goal of $20,000.[2] The six week campaign was completed with $25,899,[3] and the film eventually raised over $60,000 from 1400 backers.
The Spider-Man suit, designed by concept artist Tiago Datrinti, projected by Lorenzo Di Sante, and created by The Amazing Spider-Lab's team, was revealed January 23, 2021.[4]
The screenplay was completed on May 3, 2021.[5]
Casting[edit]
Warden Wayne was announced to play Peter Parker on January 16, 2021. Sean Thomas Reid was announced to play Harry Osborn on January 30, 2021.[6] An open audition was held for the roles of Mary Jane Watson and Gwen Stacy. Auditions closed on February 28. On March 25, Moriah Brooklyn and Tuyen Powell were announced to play Mary Jane Watson and Gwen Stacy respectively. Additionally, Maxwell Fox-Andrews was announced to play Tim Harrison.[7]
Filming[edit]
Principal photography began on June 12, 2021, in Fayetteville, Arkansas.[8] Production moved to New York City from June 19 to July 3, 2021.[9] Filming wrapped on August 14.[10]
Marketing[edit]
The teaser trailer was released on July 16, 2021, and received over 115,000 views in the first 24 hours.[11] The official trailer was released on October 28, 2021.[12]
The official main poster, illustrated by Tiago Datrinti, was revealed on August 1, 2021, for Spider-Man Day.[13]
