Spider Queen
Spider Queen[edit]
Adrianna "Ana" Soria is a mysterious villainess with the ability to control minions with powerful pheromones. Her abilities are the result of an American military experiment from World War II, and has returned to seek revenge on the US government for abandoning her, resulting in confrontations with Peter Parker/Spider-Man in stopping her from destroying all human life in New York City with a biological bomb.[1] The character next appears as the Spider Queen during the "Spider-Island" storyline. She is initially a female benefactor to the Jackal in the creation of a virus to people involving Spider abilities, and using Tarantula and the Spider King as enforcers.[2] Their plan results several hundred citizens of New York having manifested spider-powers to which the Avengers attempt to defend the city,[3] despite Anti-Venom's abilities curing various Spider-powered individuals, and Carlie Cooper and Peter investigating this event's cause. Meanwhile, the Spider Queen has the Jackal obtain the Spider King's tiny spider embryos.[4] Mister Fantastic's vaccine for the Spider-powered individuals can keep people from gaining abilities but does not cure anyone who already have the abilities while nearly everyone in New York are slowly mutating into spider-like creature (including Carlie),[5] to which the Spider Queen uses her Web of Life to control the spider-like creatures.[6] As Horizon Labs develop a serum from Anti-Venom's antibodies to kill the Spider-Virus and instantly reverse mutations, the Spider Queen sends Tarantula to break into the lab to poison the serum, eventually resulting in Kaine falling a pool of serum with the Spider Queen's mutation gone. Meanwhile, the Spider Queen uses an evolved version of her sonic scream to kill the Jackal (later revealed as yet another clone), and realizes she has been becoming a Spider-Goddess.[7] The Spider Queen uses her enhanced powers to evolve into an enormous spider-like creature siphoning power from every Spider-infected individual when confronted by Steve Rogers and Agent Venom followed by Spider-Man, Mary Jane Watson and Kaine (now outfitted with the Spider-Armor from "Big Time" which deflects the Queen's sonic scream), and then New York's whole heroic community. Spider-Man and Mary Jane use Doctor Octopus' Octobots to carry the cure to reverse a large part of New York's mutation at once which made the Spider Queen lose most of her powers. Kaine then uses the Spider-Armor to deflect her own sonic scream to slay the Spider Queen.[8]
