Spirit Media

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Spirit Media is a multi-award-winning, multi-platform content and audience building company founded by ex Endemol executives Peter Cowley and Matt Cowley in 2010.[1]

Work[edit]

Spirit Media’s portfolio covers a variety of projects, from social media management and audience development to digital original content and broadcast TV.

Trigger Happy

Dom Joly and Spirit Media created independent comedy production company Shady Cabal[2] to launch a revamped Trigger Happy for the digital generation.

The first series launched in late 2016[3] on All 4 and quickly became Channel 4’s most successful digital original to date.[4] This success resulted in the commissioning of a Christmas Eve compilation episode for Channel 4 and a subsequent second series[5] which launched in 2017.

Jamie Laing

Spirit has worked with Made In Chelsea star Jamie Laing for a number of years and on a number of projects, most notably the hit podcast Private Parts co-hosted with fellow MIC star Francis Boulle.[6]

Spirit also runs his successful YouTube channel, Happy Hour, which follows his West London hijinks and regularly features guests such as Emily Hartridge, Jack Whitehall and other Made In Chelsea stars.

Lion Whisperer

Kevin Richardson, a.k.a the Lion Whisperer, and Spirit set up LionWhispererTV in 2014 and it has gone from success to success since. Now the channel has well over 500,000 subscribers with a number of long-form documentaries having been spun off from it.[7]

#IAMWHOLE

Spirit, NHS and YMCA England & Wales teamed up to launch #IAMWHOLE, a movement that aimed to stamp out the stigma surrounding mental health difficulties in children and young adults.[8]

Launched in 2016 and lead by Rizzle Kicks’ frontman Jordan Stephens,[9] the campaign went on to receive praise from Parliament[10]. It also won The Drum’s B2C Strategy or Campaign of the Year award[11] and a commendation at the HSJ Value in Healthcare Awards.[12]

2017 saw the campaign get even bigger, with rockers Nothing But Thieves joining the movement[13] with an exclusive music video of their single Broken Machine. This was launched along with #IAMWHOLE’s campaign film at the BT Tower where the band played an intimate acoustic set.[14]
