Spring Studios
Spring Studios is a multinational, 360-degree creative agency working on communications, production and events for luxury brands. It also serves as a high-profile event space hosting New York Fashion Week.[1][2], Tribeca Film Festival, and the Independent Art Fair among others. [3]
Spring operates worldwide with offices in London, New York, and Milan.
History
The original Spring Studios, founded in 1996, is located at 10 Spring Place in Kentish Town, London, and occupies a converted 19th century industrial space built to house artists’ material suppliers Winsor & Newton.
In its early days as a production studio, with its own lighting and rentals department, Spring provided a platform for some of the world’s best fashion photographers including David Sims, Sølve Sundsbø and Peter Lindbergh and quickly gained a reputation for supporting emerging talent.
In 2006 it launched Spring Projects, holding a series of events including parties, installations and art shows. Spring held exhibitions for the Chapman brothers, Matt Collingshaw, Barnaby Barford and Gary Card.
Evolution
Evolving from its roots as a photography studio space for still and motion shoots, Spring tailored its services to become a full service, omni-channel production capability - including talent-sourcing, retouch, post-production, e-commerce and content hubs, onset and offsite production.
The agency side of the business took shape under the creative leadership of Robin Derrick[4], former Creative Director of British Vogue. Derrick joined Spring from Condé Nast in 2010 as Executive Creative Director of London with a vision to expand beyond fashion into the beauty, lifestyle and luxury categories.
In 2013, the agency expanded to New York[5], with full studio, events and production operations launching in Manhattan’s Tribeca neighbourhood, and in Milan in 2017.
In June 2016, Francesco Costa, Chairman of Spring Studios along with his business partner Alessandro Cajrati Crivelli, launched Spring Place,[6] a co-working club under the Spring umbrella[7]. The first location opened in New York City[8], and was designed to combine the end-to-end content production facilities of Spring Studios with access to a community of creative leaders through Spring Place.
