D'Arsène (Dee) Maurice Mayfield (born September 9, 1997), known professionally as Sptmbr, is an American rapper, singer, songwriter, and record producer hailing from Atlanta, GA. He is characterized by a self-made underground psychedelic sound, lyricism built on introspective illusion, fantastical/otherworldly beat production, and a melodic, but metal/emo approach to pop, trap and R&B. Born in Daytona Beach, Florida and raised in Huntsville, AL, Sptmbr gained initial recognition on Soundcloud in the underground music scene[1] before moving to Nashville and creating a buzz by performing at local colleges.[2][3]

Career

Early 2018, Sptmbr began as an in-house producer/engineer for Audio Crack Ent. Studios in Memphis, TN. During his time in Memphis, Sptmbr met producer, Jerell “Wavoe” Williams and released his first self-produced mixtape, A Wave in Sptmbr.[4]

Wavoe would introduce Sptmbr to rapper CG the Goat [5] and the two went on to executively produce The Goat Show (2018).[6]

Co-producing hits for CG led to Sptmbr signing his first record deal with Record63, LLC.,[7] releasing a 2 song EP titled Dungeons & Dragons (2019). The EP has since gained over 70,000+ total streams on digital streaming platforms.

In early October 2021, while on his “with love, alladin vein” tour,[8] Sptmbr met Pi'erre Bourne in Atlanta after a show. Bourne, who at the time was on his “The Life Of Pi'erre 5” headline tour,[9] invited Sptmbr to a private Atlanta studio session where he was then added to the So Icey Boyz roster as a producer.

In 2022, Sptmbr became a studio apprentice under Pi'erre during the recording of his album, “Good Movie” (2022) Fall 2022, Sptmbr released EP, Super Saiyan Sossboy:, Vol. 1 (2022) under Sosshouse Records. The project was executively produced by Pi'erre Bourne, Sptmbr, and Jerrell “Wavoe” Williams
