St James cheese is an artisan cheese that is made with pasteurized cow milk. It is a semi hard, Tomme-style, alpine cheese, that was created because Craig Hageman, the creator of the cheese, wanted to sell an alpine cheese that didn't have a spicy or funky flavor. The milk that is used to create St James cheese is sourced from local dairy farms. The cheese is produced in Mankato, Minnesota, by Alemar farms. The cheese is named after St. James, a small town in Southern Minnesota.[citation needed] It is the first semi-hard cheese developed by Alemar.[1]

Uses[edit]

The cheese can be added to a cheese board or eaten plain as a snack. It can also be easily shredded, grated, and melted. According to the Alemar Cheese website it can be added to salads, pastas, eggs, potatoes, and other dishes.
