The St Mary's Penrith Cougars were an Australian rugby league football club based in Penrith, New South Wales. They currently are not competing in any competitions and formerly competed in the New South Wales Cup from 2003 to 2005 and 2007 (as the pumas) and acted as a feeder club to the NRL club Penrith Panthers.
History[edit]
The St Mary's Penrith Cougars were formed to replace the panthers in the NSW cup. The Cougars were established in 2003 as the St Mary's Penrith Cougars to act as a feeder club to the Penrith Panthers, initially entering the NSWRL Jim Beam Cup with the thought in mind to gain entry into the NSW Cup, a feat achieved in 2003. In 2005, the Cougars failed to come up with money to field a team in the NSW Cup, so currently the club is taking a hiatus from this competition with an aim to return in 2007. in 2007 the cougars returned to the NSW Cup as the Penrith Pumas but exited the competition at the end of the 2007 season.
