Stacey A. Bedwell

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Stacey A. Bedwell is an English psychologist and neuroscientist, focusing on high order cognitive functions and the prefrontal cortex. She is a lecturer in psychology at Birmingham City University. She is the author of children's science books, How does my brain work? and The Human Body A-Z. Bedwell has also authored several peer reviewed papers and has won awards for her research, including a CNS postdoctoral fellow award in 2018.

Education and Career[edit]

Stacey A. Bedwell graduated with a B.Sc. in Psychology in 2008 and M.Sc. in Clinical Psychology in 2010 from Bangor University. She was awarded her Ph.D. in Biosciences from Nottingham Trent University in 2015 for her work on the anatomical connectivity of the mammalian prefrontal cortex. She completed post-doctoral positions in neuroanatomy and neuropsychology at Nottingham Trent University before beginning her lectureship in Psychology at Birmingham City University.

Research[edit]

Bedwell's research focuses on the prefrontal cortex, its connectivity and organisation and the complex cognitive processes associated with the region. Her work has established previously undescribed unique structural properties of prefrontal cortical pathways. She also investigates the role of childhood experiences in the development of high order functions associated with the complex prolonged development of prefrontal cortical networks.
