Stanford University Learning Sciences and Technology Design PhD Program
The Learning Sciences and Technology Design (LSTD) Ph.D program is one of several Ph.D programs in the Stanford Graduate School of Education at Stanford University. It is a leading program in the Learning Sciences. Many students in the program study learning sciences in the context of how technology devices around us can contribute to student’s learning.
History
Academics
The LSTD Program is a five year doctoral program. Candidates must complete 135 course units, and complete a thesis project. Additionally, candidates must complete a minor degree (20 credits) in a subject area other than education, or a masters degree. Candidates are required to maintain a 3.0 grade point average, and are encouraged to take most classes for a letter grade, though this is not strictly required.
Each candidate is matched with a primary advisor, and a secondary advisor, both of which are responsible for the candidate’s progress, answering questions, guiding them in their research focus, and advising on introductions and collaborations with other academics and faculty.
