Stas Bartnikas is a Moscow-based photographer and photojournalist who specializes in aerial landscape photography.[1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8][9] He is a frequent contributor to National Geographic.[10][11]
Background[edit]
Bartnikas graduated from Moscow State University with a degree in Journalism.[12] He started taking photographs at the age of thirteen with a Smena 8M camera.[13]
Photography work and style[edit]
Bartnikas’s photography is focused on exposing natural landscape elements which look like abstract compositions when viewed from above.[2] He shoots mostly from an aircraft, as opposed to drone photography.[13][1][4] Bartnikas photography can be referred as “aero-art”.[2][3] His submissions to the National Geographic Photo Contest have been noted by media, compiling submissions to that contest. [14][15][16][17][18] National Geographic has also featured his work in a number of compilation articles.[14][19][20][21] He is also a frequent contributor to National Geographic’s Your Shot[10][11] Bartnikas has won a number of photo awards.
