Stefan Schaible (born March 20, 1968, in Munich) is a German management consultant.[1] He serves as the Global Managing Partner and spokesperson of the executive board of Roland Berger.[2] Schaible previously led the firm's operations in Germany and Central Europe and is regarded as an expert in public sector consulting.[3]
Life
Schaible grew up in Nagold, southwest of Stuttgart. He spent time abroad in France, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Influenced by the sustainability debate of the 1980s, he became politically active with the Jusos (Young Socialists) and served on the state executive board of the SPD in Baden-Württemberg.[4] After completing his secondary education, he studied chemistry, philosophy, and law at the University of Konstanz.[5]
Career
Schaible began his professional career at Roland Berger in 1997. After four years, he was elected partner. Specializing in public sector consulting, major infrastructure projects, and the energy and environmental sectors, he assumed leadership of the firm's practice group for the civilian economy. In this role, he advised government agencies including the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees and the Federal Employment Agency.[3] He also became a member of Roland Berger's global leadership body.[6]
In 2014, Schaible took charge of the firm's operations in Germany and Central Europe.[7] Concurrently, with the appointment of Charles-Édouard Bouée as CEO, he was promoted to deputy chief executive officer at the international level.[8] In this position, he drove the restructuring of the consultancy after the partners had definitively opted for independence.[9][10] Under Schaible's leadership, Roland Berger achieved double-digit growth rates and expanded its position in the German home market.[11] Schaible has repeatedly spoken publicly in favor of an open and liberal Europe and has focused extensively on digitalization.[12][13][14][15]
In 2018, Schaible was re-elected by the partners as deputy CEO.[16] Following the departure of Charles-Édouard Bouée in 2019, Schaible assumed the role of Global Managing Director.[17] He initially served as part of a five-member leadership team that managed the consultancy on an interim basis.[18] In 2020, the partners elected a new three-member executive board, with Schaible serving as its spokesperson.[19] In addition to his role as Global Managing Partner, Schaible oversees Roland Berger's digital business.
