The Steinlager Alt Blacks (known as the Alt Blacks) is a New Zealand amateur rugby union team created to play in the popular video game, Rugby Challenge. Unlike the All Blacks, the Alt Blacks are made up of 23 regular Kiwis with little or no actual rugby experience. The squad was given the opportunity to fulfil the dream of pulling on a black jersey by local beer brand, Steinlager. Amazingly, the Alt Blacks have a perfect record, winning their inaugural match against the world champion Springboks 7-0 at Eden Park on October 2, 2021.[1]
Stadium
The team's primary home ground is Eden Park, located in the central Auckland suburb of Kingsland. The stadium has a capacity of 50,000. In addition to hosting the Alt Blacks’ home matches, the ground is the home of the Auckland Rugby Football Union and Auckland Cricket, and is a frequent host of All Blacks matches, and hosted the 2011 Rugby World Cup semi-finals, third-place playoff, and final.[2]
