Stella Kaiser (1873–1953)[1] was an American songwriter and pianist from Fort Worth, Texas. Kaiser is best known for her 1884 song "Mama & Papa Waltz", which she composed at the age of 11.[2] This song was composed after only nineteen months of piano instruction from her teacher, Mrs. Kathleen Randle.[3] After the publication of this song, The Fort Worth Daily Gazette referred to Kaiser as "a musical prodigy" and claimed that she "promises to become a wonderful performer."[4]
While it is unclear how long Kaiser's career lasted, she continued playing piano until at least the summer of 1887 when she performed "Grande Paraphrase de Concert on Old Black Joe Op. 33" by Charles Junior Gimble at a benefit concert organized by Kathleen Randle.[5]
