Stephan Paternot
Uncontroversial technical requests[edit]
Stephan Paternot [1] [2] [3] [4] and his business partner, Todd Krizelman [5], created theGlobe.com [6] -- internet startup founded in 1995[1] by the two when they were both Cornell students. A social networking service, theGlobe.com made headlines by going public on November 13, 1998 and posting the largest first day gain of any IPO in history up to that date.[2] Part of the dot-com bubble, the company's stock price collapsed the next year, and the company retrenched for several years before ceasing operations in 2008.
Stephan Paternot [7] went on to co-found Slated, where he is now CEO. Slated is the world's first online film finance marketplace, where over 1,200 films have received over $1.25 billion in investor introductions as of 2018. Stephan is also co-founder of PalmStar, a film production and financing company that has helped bring to life over 30 films including HEREDITARY (2018), COLLATERAL BEAUTY (2016), SING STREET (2016) and JOHN WICK (2014). In addition, Stephan is the founder and general partner of the Actarus Funds, which have backed companies including LendingClub, SecondMarket, Indiegogo, AngelList, Digital Currency Group, and more.
Stephan Paternot's book, A Very Public Offering: The Story of theGlobe.com and the First Internet Revolution [8] [9] will publish on November 13, 2018. Paternot and the story of theGlobe.com is featured on National Geographic's limited TV series, Valley of the Boom, [10] [11] airing in January 2019.
Often called the Mark Zuckerberg before Mark Zuckerberg, Stephan Paternot is one of the early players in the birth of the Internet. GFP2006 (talk) 20:13, 6 November 2018 (UTC)
