Stéphanie Tumba (born January 31st, 1988) is a multi-award-winning investor, author, and founder of Sté Tumba Capital, an angel investment vehicle that is focused on real estate, seed, and early-stage investments. She looks for globally-minded start-ups that can change the world we live in, and invests in areas with incredible impact, ranging from web-enabled products and services to real estate projects.[1]

Early Life[edit]

Stéphanie is the eldest sister of a family of six children and she was born and raised in Paris, France by Congolese parents. Being the daughter of a real-estate entrepreneur, she followed in her father’s footsteps by taking the entrepreneurial route to invest in her first flat at the age of 18. This early inspiration helped her to build her very own property portfolio.

Education[edit]

She studied English Literature and Civilisation with a major in Developmental Psychology (e.g. Children Psychology). She later switched to Business Management, graduating with a major in marketing and a minor in finance at the ESSEC Business School in Paris. All through her studies and life, she accumulated valuable experiences in a variety of industries: banking, finance, entertainment, retail, and, more importantly, in the luxury & beauty industry.

Career[edit]

Stéphanie has travelled to all seven continents around the world and worked in Sydney, Paris, Shanghai, Frankfurt, Madrid, and London. From these experiences, she learned the values, norms, and traditions that affect the way a member of a group typically perceives, thinks, interacts, behaves, and makes judgments.

Despite liking her international career in marketing and enjoying all the experiences around the world, she did not feel fully satisfied and fulfilled with the standard corporate environment. As such, after dealing with a difficult divorce, being sacked from a job she hated and getting the opportunity to get back into finance, She worked for a short period for a family office and with the support of its managing director, she created her business angel vehicle in 2016.

Her first angel investment was in the hospitality industry, which was then sold the following year for twice its original valuation. Since then, her investment portfolio has grown to include 20 or so investments in addition to real estate acquisitions.[2]
