Stephen M. Collins MB.BS., FRCPC, FRSC is a Canadian physician–scientist in gastroenterology. He is a Distinguished University Professor at McMaster University[1] and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada,[2] the national academy of scholars and scientists in Canada.
Career
Collins trained in medicine at the universities of London and Leicester and completed research training in cell biology at the Digestive Diseases Branch of the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland. He joined the faculty at McMaster University in 1981 and established the Intestinal Diseases Research Unit in 1983, directing it until 1993.[3] In 2008 he helped establish the Farncombe Family Digestive Health Research Institute, which focuses on microbiota–host interactions in gastrointestinal health and disease.[4]

Collins has received several honours, including:
