Stereoboard
Stereoboard.com is a live entertainment publication and event ticketing site, visited by millions.[1] of music fans worldwide[2], based in Cardiff, Wales.
Stereoboard facilitates the transparent [3] purchase of tickets for music, theatre and sporting events, by listing tickets from guaranteed [4] and legitimate sources, official ticket agencies and secondary exchange marketplaces. The official ticket agents the site works with include Ticketmaster, See Tickets[5], AXS, and Eventim.
Stereoboard regularly lists hundreds of thousands of ticket options, for over 28,000 UK, Ireland and European events, as well as around 20,000 international non-European events, including shows in North America[6], Australia and New Zealand. It also allows users to track ticket price changes and set up alerts for new tour announcements.
In addition to daily music news and tour announcements, Stereoboard also offers unique content in the form of interviews, reviews and features from its pool of writers, including in-house staff and freelancers. Artists that have been interviewed by Stereoboard include Tori Amos[7], Panic! At The Disco[8], Coheed and Cambria[9], Anderson .Paak[10], Idles[11], Feeder[12], Beth Hart[13], You Me At Six[14], James Morrison[15], Rolo Tomassi[16], The Lumineers[17], Don Broco[18], Rise Against[19], Ash[20] and Trivium[21].
History
Stereoboard.com was founded in 2002 by Pontypridd-born Welsh entrepreneur Nigel Sachdev, from his spare room[2]. The site was originally set up in 1997 as a community for fans of Welsh rock band Stereophonics, which later became the band’s official website at Stereophonics.co.uk. Sachdev relaunched the site independently from the band in 2000, before rebranding to Stereoboard.com in 2002, becoming a general rock and pop music news website.
In 2009 the site was relaunched again with a ticket search engine, aggregating ticket listings from multiple sellers, which helped users to compare ticket prices and availability from numerous legitimate sources. This new revenue stream allowed Sachdev to take on the business full time and bring in an editorial team to drive future growth.
In 2011, Stereoboard worked with the UK’s Office of Fair Trading on their Just Tick It campaign[22] to raise awareness of online ticket scams. Stereoboard.com, alongside Media Wales and Cardiff writer Peter Acton, created a viral video campaign called Access All Areas[23]
