Stetson Fleming Bennett IV also known as Mailman is an American football quarterback for the Georgia Bulldogs[1]
High School Career[edit]
In high school Stetson threw for 58 touchdowns with only 16 interceptions.[2] He was a 2 star recruit and walked on to Georgia.
College Career[edit]
2017[edit]
Stetson was redshirted for his first year. That same year freshman Jake Fromm led Georgia to the national championship game. Justin Fields also committed so Bennett decided to transfer to Jones County Junior College.
2018[edit]
After his transfer, Stetson would play in 12 games and would throw for 16 touchdowns for 1,840 yards. After his lone season at Jones County he entered the transfer portal for a 2nd time. Stetson was a 3 star prospect heading into his transfer. He was about to accept an offer to play at Louisiana when Georgia, who was in need of a backup QB offered Stetson a scholarship. [3] Stetson would accept, and become Georgia's 2nd string QB.
2019[edit]
As Jake Fromm's backup Stetson would have 2 touchdowns and 1 interception on the season. Stetson also had one rushing touchdown. He most notably appeared in the SEC Championship Game when Jake Fromm went down with a injury.[4]
2020[edit]
After Jamie Newman opted out of the 2020 football season the Georgia QB job was up in the air. The Bulldogs slotted D'Wan Mathis into the starting role for the first game. After being down 7-2 against the Arkansas Razorbacks at halftime. Stetson was put in the game, and he would throw for 2 tds and 211 yards. He lead the Bulldogs to a 37-10 victory. The next week vs Auburn, Bennett would make his first ever start with Georgia. He had 1 touchdown and no interceptions. He would start again the next week vs Tennessee. He would throw for 2 touchdowns, and get a rushing touchdown. The next week he would make his first away start against Alabama. After not throwing a interception all year he threw 3 in a 41-24 loss to the Crimson Tide. The next game against Kentucky he would go 9 of 13 for 131 yards and 2 interceptions and a rushing touchdown. The next week vs rival Florida Stetson would throw 16 passes and complete 5 of them for 78 yards, 1 touchdown, and 1 interception. He was benched for D'Wan Mathis in the 44-28 loss References
