From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Steve Chung (born October 28, 1978) is a Korean-American Internet entrepreneur and broadcast media executive. He is the founder of Frankly Inc. and currently serves as its chairman and chief executive officer.[1]

Early Life

Chung was born in 1979 in Seoul, South Korea. In 1987, Chung's family immigrated to the United States and took residence in greater Los Angeles, California.

Chung attended Harvard University and graduated in 2001 with his AB in American government and East Asian studies. Chung later returned to school and received his MBA from Stanford University in 2007.[2]

Career

Chung began his career as an investment banking analyst for Goldman Sachs in New York City. After two years, Chung left his job at Goldman Sachs for the opportunity to run a start-up TV media company in Beijing, China.[2] At Pan Media Corporation, Chung led the production of a weekly, prime-time talk show featuring global figures including Madeleine Albright, Nicole Kidman and Arnold Schwarzenegger that reached some 600 million TV viewers throughout mainland China.

After graduating with his MBA from Stanford University in 2007, Chung served as the investment director of BlueRunVentures, a Silicon Valley venture capital firm.

From late 2007 to 2010, he served as chief strategy officer of CDNetworks. He later served as an executive vice president at KIT Digital, and as chief operating officer of the social network, We Heart It.

Since 2013, Chung has served as chief executive officer of Frankly Inc., a San Francisco-based broadcast media and internet company. With initial seed money from Stanford University and SK Telecom, Chung and his team launched Frankly as an ephemeral chat messaging application.[3] Chung has led the company through two successful strategic pivots—a switch in focus to business-to-business software development kit sales and the US $45 million acquisition of New York-based WorldNow.[4][5]

Chung has served as a lecturer for the China Foreign Affairs University and a graduate member of the Stanford University Board of Trustees. Chung is also an Asia21 Fellow.
