Early Life[edit]

Steve attended Dartmouth College to gain his Bachelor’s degree in history. He followed his time in undergrad by attending New York University where he received his law degree.

Career[edit]

Producer Steve Hutensky is the co-founder and Chief Operating Officer for Made Up Stories, a development and production company committed to amplifying distinctive voices to tell unforgettable stories about the diversity of human experience, driven primarily by multifaceted females on and off-screen.

For Made Up Stories, Steve recently produced the film adaption of the inspiring international bestseller, PENGUIN BLOOM, directed by Glendyn Ivin and starring Naomi Watts, Andrew Lincoln and Jacki Weaver, the recently premiered on Netflix, and THE DRY, based on Jane Harper novel, from director Robert Connolly and starring Eric Bana, which has broken records at the Australian box office upon release in January 2021 and had since been acquired by IFC Films domestically and will be released on May 21, 2021. He also produced acclaimed writer/director Jennifer Kent’s movie THE NIGHTINGALE, which won six AACTA Awards including Best Films in 2019 and Special Jury Prize at the Venice Film Festival, and rising filmmaker Abe Forsythe’s LITTLE MONSTERS starring Lupita Nyong’o and Jose Gad, which made its world premiere at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival and was distributed by Neon and Hulu.

On the television side for the Made Up Stories, Steve is in various stages of production as on executive producer on projects including: the Netflix thriller PIECES OF HER, adapted from Karin Slaughter’s book, created by Charlotte Stoudt and directed by Minkie Spire, starring Toni Collette and Bella Heathcote; the limited series NINE PERFECT STRANGERS, based on best-selling author Liane Moriarty’s book, written by David E. Kelley and John Henry Butterworth and starring Nicole Kidman, Melissa McCarthy, Luke Evans, Regina Hall and Manny Jacinto for Hulu; ANATOMY OF A SCANDAL, based on the international bestseller by Sarah Vaughn, created by David E. Kelley and Melissa James Gibson that S.J Clarkson is directing, starring Sienna Miller and Michelle Dockery, for Netflix; the anthology series ROAR for Apple TV+, based on Cecelia Ahern’s short story collection, created by Liz Flahive and Carly Mensch, and starring Nicole Kidman, Cynthia Erivo, Merritt Wever, and starring Josh Gad and Isla Fisher. In 2018, he served as executive producer for Facebook Watch’s QUEEN AMERICA, created by Meaghan Oppenheimer, directed by Alethea Jones and starring Catherine Zeta Jones.

Prior to Made Up Stories, Steve produced the 2017 thriller 2:22 and the documentary WAKE UP. Additional credits include THE HUMAN STAIN, THE KING’S DAUGHTER and COLD and was a top executive at Miramax Films from 1995-2004, holding a variety of senior business and creative positions.
