Stockholm Feminist Film Festival
Created in 2016, Stockholm Feminist Film Festival is the biggest and most well known film festival for women's films in Scandinavia. It celebrated female filmmakers, both on screen and behind the camera. The main aim of the festival is to bring attention to equality in film industry.
Festival is trying to push back against the "business as usual" model of the industry, which has always favored male directors, by highlighting the amazing work of female filmmakers from the past year.
The festival aims to increase the gender equality and diversity in cinema by focusing on films made by female directors and telling stories from the perspective of women and focused on their experiences. Screened movies are made by women directors from all over the world: both features and shorts, fiction as well as documentaries.
Alongside diverse program the festival is also hosting a variety of panels addressing gender equality in film, masterclasses, workshops and more.
It’s hoped that this will encourage more women to step behind the camera and bring a uniquely female voice to both the Swedish and international film industries.
The fifth edition of Stockholm Feminist Film Festival will take place February 26 - March 1, 2020.
