Hurricanes tend to happen around where there is warm water in the ocean; if the water cools down, the hurricane will start to die off. Hurricanes happen from the end of spring to the start of fall.
Tornadoes can’t happen on mountains or populated towns. They almost never happen in big cities.
Thunderstorms are very common when it is hot and humid, but they can really happen any time.
You're safe in a car or home. The reason you hear the lightning before thunder is because light travels faster than speed!
