The Strategy and Security Institute (SSI) is an institution for research into global security and strategy, based at the University of Exeter.[1]
Organisation[edit]
The current director of SSI is Lieutenant General (Retd) Professor Sir Paul Raymond Newton KBE, a former British Army officer, Colonel Commandant of the Queen's Division, and Honorary Colonel of 15 Psychological Operations Group.[2]
The Institute 'spearheads' a consortium (which includes RAND Europe, International Institute of Strategic Studies, and QinetiQ) which provides strategic analysis support to the Development, Concepts and Doctrine Centre (DCDC), the United Kingdom Ministry of Defence (United Kingdom)’s (MOD’s) think tank.[3]
Mark Turnbull, managing director of Cambridge Analytica, had been an honorary fellow of the Institute until 2018.[4]
