Streaming Availability of Futurama Episodes

Red capital letters with a yellow border that spell out "Futurama"

The American animated science fiction sitcom Futurama, created by Matt Groening for the Fox Broadcasting Company, aired on Fox from March 28, 1999, to August 10, 2003; Comedy Central from June 24, 2010 to September 4, 2013, and Hulu (US) and Disney+ starting July 24, 2023[1]. Following a commitment from 20th Century Fox Television to produce four straight-to-DVD Futurama films, Comedy Central announced on June 23, 2006 that they would air the films as new Futurama episodes (reconfiguring each film into four episodes) after each movie's DVD release.[2][3] Comedy Central broadcast the first film on March 23, 2008, with the last one premiering on August 30, 2009.[4][5]

The original 72-episode run of Futurama was produced as four seasons; Fox broadcast the episodes out of the intended order, resulting in five aired seasons.[6] As consequence, the show's canon is disrupted by the broadcast order.[7][circular reference]

As of 2017,[8] 20th Century Studios uses original premiere date order for streaming purposes. This resulted in splitting parts of seasons 2, 3, and 4 into seasons 3, 4, and 5 respectively, season 6 as the movies specials, the original season 6 splitting up into seasons 7 and 8, and the original season 7 becoming seasons 9 and 10.

On February 9, 2022, Hulu announced it had ordered new seasons of the show, which will premiere on July 24, 2023.[9]

Series overview[edit]

Fox Broadcasting Company broadcast many episodes of the original four production seasons of Futurama out of order (though the first season was aired completely in order), resulting in five broadcast seasons. Comedy Central also chose to air the parts of season 6 and 7 out of order. This list follows the current streaming order as shown by distributors.
