Street Clerks are a Rock'n'Roll band from Florence (Italy) formed in 2007. The group consists of Alexander Woodbury on vocals, electric & acoustic guitar, Valerio Martino on backing vocals, electric & acoustic guitar, "Costì" Cosimo Ravenni on backing vocals, electric & double bass and Francesco Giommi on backing vocals & drums.

They are known in Italy for presently being the resident band of the Late Night Shows "E Poi C'è Cattelan" (Sky Italia), "Da Grande" (Rai) and "Stasera C'è Cattelan" (Rai) all hosted by Alessandro Cattelan and for participating to the 7th season of X Factor Italy in 2013.

History[edit][edit]

They all grow up in the Florence area and meet around the beginning of high-school sharing various rock, ska and punk rock bands.

In 2007 Alexander, Cosimo and Valerio form Street Clerks as an acoustic trio playing mainly a repertoire of hits from the 1950s, 60s and 70s by pop artists like Elvis, Chuck Berry, The Everly Brothers, Dire Straits, Simon & Garfunkel and most of all The Beatles.

In 2008 they win first prize at "Pelago On The Road", a small busker festival organized by the city of Pelago with artists of all kinds from all over Europe.

From 2009 the band starts to include in their repertoire rock and folk rock arrangements of more recent songs by Radiohead, The Chemical Brothers and The Prodigy especially after Francesco joins the band on drums at a time when Street Clerks were getting very well known in Florence and start playing at bigger venues.

In 2010 they win a national band contest held in Florence called "Rock Contest" with original material which awarded them 5 free recording days at a famous studio called Larione10. Between 2010 and 2013 they play continously and are chosen as the opening act for well known Italian artists such as Brunori Sas, Caparezza, Edoardo Bennato, Meganoidi, Alessandro Mannarino, Irene Grandi, Roy Paci and Niccolò Fabi.

Two years later, on the 12th of June 2012, they put out their first EP "Il Ritorno Di Beethoven" featuring six original tracks and an up-tempo version of Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah" as the final ghost track.

In 2013 they participated in the 7th Season of X Factor Italy broadcast by Sky Italia in the Groups category with Simona Ventura as their mentor and Paola Folli as their vocal trainer. They reach the 4th week and get eliminated.
