Stu Nugent (born in 1985) is an Anglo-Irish writer and content creator.
Early life
Nugent was born in Winchester, England, to Irish and Welsh parents. He attended Wyvern College, followed by Barton Peveril Sixth Form College, and studied Linguistics and Literature at Sussex University.
Career
Nugent has worked in the adult industry for much of his professional life, and is regularly quoted as a "sex expert" in mainstream publications. He has previously worked as the Brand Manager for luxury sex toy designer LELO[1], and is regularly quoted as a 'sex and relationship expert.'[2]
Nugent achieved some notoriety after publicly sharing an agency pitch he received, which contained a number of misogynistic and humorously erroneous assumptions about the female orgasm.[3] The coverage caused the agency to cease operations.
Nugent currently lives in Berlin as a Senior Creative for Lovehoney Group.
Just Crazy Enough To Work
In 2018, Nugent attempted to cycle alone from Shanghai to London. Unbeknownst to him, he had suffered a traumatic brain injury while preparing for the journey, leading to a series of impulsive decisions that eventually led to the end of the journey after being imprisoned in Kazakhstan, for which the British Embassy in Nur Sultan had to provide consular assistance.
The injury, and trauma accrued on the journey, led to a long period of poor mental health, including a diagnosis of PTSD and major depressive disorder, and leading to fugue states that saw Nugent hospitalized several times and reported as a missing person on one occasion.[4]
Nugent recounted the journey, and the after-effects, in his book, Just Crazy Enough To Work.[5]
