Stuart Allan (historian)

Stuart Allan is a British military historian and museum curator. He is currently Keeper of Scottish History and Archaeology at National Museums Scotland.[1] Allan was previously the curator in charge of the National War Museum, Edinburgh Castle.

Allan joined National Museums Scotland in 2000[2], and his research has focused on 18th and 19th century British military history, with particular reference to the relationship between war, military service and representations of Scotland.[3] Allan's publications include The Thin Red Line: War, Empire and Visions of Scotland (2004), which he co-authored with Allan Carswell. [4]
