Sualeh Asif (born 1999) is a Pakistani software engineer and technology entrepreneur. He is a co-founder of Anysphere, the company behind Cursor, an artificial intelligence-assisted code editor.[1][2] In 2026, his net worth was estimated at $1.3 billion following Anysphere's reported valuation of $29.3 billion.[3]

Early life and education

Asif was born in Karachi, Pakistan. He attended Nixor College and later studied at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the United States.[4]

From 2016 to 2018, he represented Pakistan at the International Mathematical Olympiad, where he received a silver medal.[5][4]

Career

In 2022, Asif co-founded Anysphere with Michael Truell, Aman Sanger and Arvid Lunnemark, whom he met while studying at MIT.[1][6] The company developed Cursor, a code editor that uses artificial intelligence to assist with software development tasks such as writing, editing and navigating code.[1][2]

Cursor raised $60 million in a Series A funding round in 2024. The round was led by Andreessen Horowitz, with participation from Thrive Capital, the OpenAI Startup Fund and Jeff Dean, and valued the company at about $400 million.[1] In 2025, Anysphere raised $900 million at a valuation of $9.9 billion.[7] Later that year, the company raised $2.3 billion in a Series D round co-led by Accel and Coatue Management, increasing its valuation to $29.3 billion.[2]

By 2026, Cursor had more than $1 billion in annualised revenue and was used by developers at more than 50,000 enterprises.[4] Anysphere had more than 300 employees after its 2025 Series D round.[2]

In April 2026, SpaceX entered into a partnership with Cursor that gave SpaceX the option to acquire Anysphere later in the year for $60 billion. If the acquisition did not proceed, SpaceX would pay $10 billion for the partnership.[8][9]

Wealth

In April 2026, Asif's net worth was estimated at $1.3 billion. The estimate was based on his stake in Anysphere following the company's $29.3 billion valuation.[3][2]
