Subbarao Kambhampati

Subbarao Kambhampati is a computer scientist and AI researcher known for his contributions to automated planning and human-aware AI systems. Born in Peddapuram Mandal, India, Kambhampati holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Maryland, which he completed in 1989 under the supervision of James Hendler.

He is currently affiliated with Arizona State University and holds the position of professor. Kambhampati has been a member of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) since December 11, 2019, and was recognized as an ACM Fellow in 2019 for his contributions to automated planning and human-aware AI systems. Additionally, he is a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) and an AAAI Fellow, receiving the latter in 2004 for his significant contributions to a unified theory of planning and its relation to constraint satisfaction.

Kambhampati has made significant strides in the field of AI and computer science. He has advised several Ph.D. students, including Menkes Hector Louis van den Briel, Zaiqing Nie, Lydia Manikonda, and Aditya Prasad Mishra. His academic contributions and leadership have earned him numerous accolades, including the ACM Fellowship and the AAAI Fellowship.
