Sudat Devapriya
Sudat Devapriya[1] born on 12th of January 1963 is a Sri Lankan TV and film maker. His creations have won many awards, both local and international, and have also been commercially successful. In his early work he was in Sri Lankan theatre as an actor.

Career –
Sudath Devapriya became involved in theatre after leaving school. Sudath Devapriya entered the world of art through the Sri Lankan stage. Having acted in a number of stage plays he followed a course in theatre art for children and young adults conducted by the well known theatre personality Mrs Somalatha Subasinghe in 1981. He joined the Rupavahini Corporation in 1983 and was responsible for a large number of children’s TV series. In 1988 Sudath directed the AMBA YAHALUWO teledrama based on T.B. Ilangaratne’s popular novel. AMBA YAHALUWO was subsequently telecasted around the world on 27 different channels and won the Honorary Jury Mention Prize at the Prix Jeunesse Television Festival in Germany, in 1990. Sudath also directed MADOL DUWA based on the book of popular novelist MARTIN WICKRAMASINGHA in 1991. It was telecasted through ITN. Then he entered Cinema and directed three films known as “ELIVENA DAWASA/THARANAYA & UDUGANG YAMAYA[2]. Currently Sudath is making his new TV Personal life – Born in Mount Lavinia, Sri Lanka, a suburb outside Colombo, Sudath attended Colombo Science College in Mount Lavinia, a leading national school for his secondary education. In 1986 he married Enoka Geethanjali Fernando, a younger sister of Mrs Asanka Abeysekara (wife of popular film maker Dr Tissa Abeysekara).
