Sumantra Chattopadhyay

Sumantra Chattopadhyay (B. 30-7-1969) is a playwright, screenwriter and maker of short fiction films and documentary films. He mostly stays and works from Kolkata and Hyderabad. Sumantra has done his engineering degree from Jadavpur University (1992). Besides his creative pursuits Sumantra works as Vice President in a multi national company. His films has won him accolades from festivals around the world. Sumantra also regularly contributes articles to leading Bengali daily newspapers. He has also translated Bertolt Brecht's 'Three Penny Novel' into Bengali and the same has been published as 'Tin Poisar Upakkhyan' by Kapotakkho Prokashan. Sumantra's father Late Manas Kumar Chatterjee, was an accomplished teacher and honored with the National Award. His mother is also a retired teacher and so is his wife Sutanu Mitra. He has a daughter Ahana Chattopadhyay.
