Sunbelt Rentals, Inc. is an American company based in Fort Mill, South Carolina that specializes in equipment rental services for industrial construction projects.[1]

Sunbelt Rentals is a subsidiary of Ashtead Group PLC (LSE: AHT) as of 1990. Ashtead operates its business through the following segments: Sunbelt Rentals and A-Plant.[2] Sunbelt currently generates 85% of revenue for Ashtead. Brendan Horgan has been the CEO since January 25, 2011.[3]

Operations[edit]

Sunbelt Rentals is primarily a provider of industrial construction equipment. Rental equipment includes aerial work platforms, forklifts, concrete and masonry equipment as well as earth moving equipment and similar tools.

In addition, the company also rents equipment in the following specialty fields: pumping solutions for transferring or removing liquids, power and HVAC for temporary power generation and mobile climate control, and scaffolding and ground protection for construction.[4]

Sunbelt Rentals was founded in 1983.[1]

In 1990, U.K.-based company Ashtead acquired Sunbelt Rentals and became Ashtead Group.[5]

In 1996, Ashtead purchased McLean Rentals, doubling Sunbelt's size. Sunbelt was now operating on the east coast from Maryland to Florida.[6]

In 2000, Ashtead acquired the US equipment rental company BET USA, an American subsidiary of Rentokil Initial plc. This merger doubled the size of Sunbelt.[5]

On September 1, 2006, Ashtead announced the acquisition of NationsRent for $1.05 B.[7] Sunbelt became the second-largest rental company in the US with the merger.[5]

In 2013, Sunbelt acquired the assets of Milwaukee High Lift Inc. and Madison High Lift Inc.[8]

In May 2016, the South Carolina Department of Commerce announced a Sunbelt Rental expansion that was projected to bring more than $8 million in capital investment.[9]

In April 2017, Sunbelt acquired Pride Equipment Corp. for $279 M.[10]

In August 2017, Sunbelt announces the acquisition of CRS Contractors Rental Supply in Canda has been complete. The acquisition was first announced in July 2017.[11]

Gary Sinise Foundation[edit]

Sunbelt Rentals is a partner of the Gary Sinise Foundation and its R.I.S.E. program, which builds specially adapted custom smart homes for severely wounded veterans and their families.[12]

2018 Sunbelt Rentals Collegiate Baseball Series[edit]

Sunbelt Rentals is the title sponsor for the 2018 Sunbelt Rental Collegiate Baseball Series.[13]
