SuperRare is a NFT (non-fungible token) marketplace, founded in 2018 by brothers John Crain, Charles Crain and their cousin Jonathan Perkins.[1][2][3] SuperRare sells unique one-of-one NFTs built on the Ethereum Blockchain.[4] In March 2021 SuperRare closed a series A funding round of $9 million backed by Collaborative Fund, and Guy Oseary’s Sound Ventures, Mark Cuban[5] among others.[6][7]

In August of 2021, SuperRare launched a curation token $RARE and formed the SuperRare DAO.[8][9] SuperRare launched Spaces, decentralized self-governing online galleries.[10][8][11][12]

Artists and Partnerships

SuperRare has sold works by artists including a collaboration between Snoop Dogg and Coldie, Decentral Eyes Dogg in 2021[13][14], Madonna and Beeple's Mother of Creation series in 2022[15][16][17][18][19], film director David Cronenberg in 2022,[20][21][22] Jim Carrey in 2022[23][24][25] and has partnered with companies including Corvette[26][27] and Gucci.[28] [29] In 2021, SuperRare partnered with Art x Lagos to offer NFT artworks highlighting the growing digital art scene in Nigeria.[30][31][32]

Artists whose work is minted on SuperRare include XCopy,[33] Sarah Zucker,[34] Pak,[35] Don Diablo,[36] Dangiuz,[37] Lushsux,[38] and Caitlin Cronenberg[39] among others.

In May 2022, SuperRare opened a pop-up gallery in New York City.[40][41] [42][43][44]
