Abimbola Jeremiah Popoola known professionally as Superstar YB is a Nigerian rapper, singer and songwriter.[1]
Early Life[edit]
Abimbola Jeremiah Popoola was born into a Christian family, in Benin City, Edo state.[2] He is the youngest of six siblings, originally from Ibadan, Oyo State. He grew up listening to Fela Kuti, Ebenezer Obey, Angelique Kidjo and King Sunny Ade.[3]
Music Career[edit]
Superstar YB interest in music grew when he stumbled on his older brother’s wide range of music collection, and He wrote his first rap lyrics after listening to the Jay z’s (The Black Album) he received as a gift on his 11th birthday. He made his music debut as a member of the music group Golden boys Band at the age of 12.[4] Superstar YB relocated to Europe at an early age, where he released his debut single “I’M HOT”. [5]
