Skip Abell Is An American Boater, Born In Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. His father is German and Anglo-Saxon and his mother is Russian. Having historic roots in Pennsylvania. Skip Abell and is a descended of the Schwehm family of Philadelphia.

His Great Grand Father is Louis Calvin Abell is the notable double gold Olympic medalist of the Vesper Boat Club in Philadelphia, coxswain of the Paris Eight in the 1900 Summer Olympics, and again in 1904 at St. Louis. Lou Abell coached John B. Kelly, Sr., father of Grace Kelly, who also went on to Olympic glory.
