Aghajanyan won the gold medal in the men's Greco-Roman 60 kg event at the 2022 European U20 Wrestling Championships. During the tournament, he defeated Latvia's Kaspars Bondarenko 10–0, Greece's Ilias Jason Ayhan 9–0 and Azerbaijan's Nihat Mammadli 9–1 by technical superiority in the semi-finals. In the final, he defeated Georgia's Dimitri Khachidze 4–0 to become European junior champion.[3]
